New Musicals

In the HeightsIn the Heights, a new musical about the lives of those in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, makes its Broadway debut after a successful off-Broadway run. Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46th Street)

The Little Mermaid, Disney’s new musical, follows the mermaid Ariel on her quest to become human and find her prince. A stage adaptation of the animated film, The Little Mermaid features new songs as well as favorites The Little Mermaidsuch as “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Under the Sea.” Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street)

 Passing Strange, created by New York City performance artist Stew, follows a young bohemian as he travels the world to find himself. Belasco Theatre (111 W. 44th Street)

The 39 Steps The 39 Steps, an Olivier Award–winning comedy based on Alfred Hitchcock's film, tells the story of a man drawn into a web of espionage and features four actors in more than 150 roles. American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street)

 August: Osage County, on Broadway after a celebrated run with Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company, finds a Midwestern family drawn together by August: Osage Countythe disappearance of a family member. Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street)


Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Tennessee Williams' award-winning play, follows the drama that unfolds when a family gathers for a birthday. This revival is the first African American production approved for Come Back, Little ShebaBroadway by Williams' estate, and stars Terrence Howard, James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad and Anika Noni Rose. Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street)

 Come Back, Little Sheba, written by William Inge and starring S. Epatha Merkerson, follows a broken couple as they struggle with the arrival of a beautiful young woman in their The Homecominghome. Biltmore Theatre (261 West 47th Street)

 The Homecoming features Ian McShane, Raúl Esparza and Eve Best in Harold Pinter’s Tony Award–winning play about a family and the drama that unfolds when an estranged brother returns home. Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street)

The Seafarer November, David Mamet's political comedy, stars Nathan Lane as the president of the United States in the days before an important election. Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street)
